Government Degree College Ramgarh organized a one-day Seminar on ‘Preparation of Civil Services Examination’ on 20th of October, 2022. It was organized by Career Counseling Cell in collaboration with National Service Scheme unit “Prabha’ and Internal Quality Assurance Committee of the College. Dr. Sunil Sharma, JKAS, was the resource person on the occasion. The event was organized under the convenership of Prof. (Dr.) Satinder Kaur, the Principal of the College.

The welcome address was delivered by the Principal of the College. In her address, she extended gratitude towards the resource person, who despite his busy schedule, spared time for the event. She highlighted the importance that civil services examinations at all levels hold. In her address, she highlighted the history of civil services in India and other Commonwealth nations.

Dr. Sunil Sharma, JKAS, initially explained the structure of the syllabus for civil service examinations. Further, he talked about the importance of newspapers. He added that newspapers are a rich source of vital information required for civil service examinations as these include events that are of regional, national, and international importance. He also highlighted the importance of magazines and news channels, and he encouraged the students to follow important news and make notes of the same. He explained that the previous years’ question papers are vital as they guide the aspirants for a better understanding of the examination pattern. 

Prof. Risha Kumari proposed the formal vote of thanks. She, on behalf of the College and the organizing committee, thanked the resource person, staff members, and the students.

Dr. Varinder Kour was the organizing secretary of the event. The organizing committee included Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Prof. Seema Sharma, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Shamsher Lal, and Prof. Risha Kumari. Other staff members of the College also attended the event.
